Geothermal Well Maintenance and Capacity Building
JRG Energy was contracted by the Government of Montserrat to maintain the integrity of the island’s geothermal wellhead equipment and build in-country operational capacity. The scope covered well maintenance operations, technical support to local staff, and knowledge transfer to ensure the wells remain in a safe and operable condition.
Capillary Tubing Installation — Cerro Prieto
JRG Energy designed and installed a capillary tubing system for geothermal production wells at Cerro Prieto in Mexico. The system was engineered to deliver inhibitor or other treatment fluids to downhole locations, addressing operational challenges and extending the productive life of the wells.
Well Test and Intervention Training
JRG Energy trained EDC geothermal operations personnel on well testing, well intervention, PTS data quality, and related operational procedures. The programme built in-house capability within EDC, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support safe and effective well operations across EDC’s geothermal portfolio.
General Well Services — Rotokawa
JRG Energy led operations for implementation testing and data acquisition, essential to the development of the Rotokawa geothermal field. Services encompassed well testing, wireline logging, and data management, providing critical subsurface information to support ongoing field development planning and operations.
Geothermal Well Enhancement
JRG Energy worked as part of a team that introduced and executed a reservoir enhancement technique targeting calcite and silica scale removal in the Philippines. The project applied innovative stimulation methods to improve well productivity, delivering measurable output improvements and demonstrating advanced well enhancement techniques in Philippine geothermal operations.
Geothermal Slim Well Testing — Armenia
JRG Energy designed, performed, and analysed the first-ever geothermal welltests in Armenia, combined with geological, resource, and geochemical data collection. The programme provided the first systematic characterisation of Armenia’s geothermal resources, establishing a foundation for future exploration and development.
Well Stimulation and Perforation
JRG Energy served as site manager and supervisor for all third-party contractors performing a multi-stage well stimulation and perforation programme on geothermal wells in New Zealand. The scope covered contractor coordination, operational supervision, HSE management, and technical oversight to ensure safe and effective execution.
Wireline Fishing Operation
JRG Energy was contracted to fish tools lost in a large geothermal production well in the Philippines. The work required specialist downhole fishing expertise to retrieve lost-in-hole equipment, restoring wellbore access and avoiding the need for costly remediation or abandonment.
Mineral Extraction Plant Study — Cerro Prieto
JRG Energy performed a silica extraction and mineral plant study and business plan at Cerro Prieto geothermal field in Mexico. The study assessed the technical and commercial feasibility of extracting silica and other minerals from geothermal brine, providing a business case for a co-located mineral extraction facility.
Well Testing and Procurement
JRG Energy assisted the lead technical adviser to Electricite de Djibouti (World Bank-backed) to drill, test, and evaluate geothermal wells. Scope included equipment procurement, operational planning, and technical supervision of well-testing activities, supporting characterisation of Djibouti’s geothermal resource potential.
