Drilling & Well Testing

geothermal drilling rig

JRG Energy’s drilling and well testing team brings together drilling engineers, completion engineers, well test specialists, wireline supervisors, and project managers with global experience across both exploration slimholes and full-scale production and injection wells in conventional, sedimentary, and nextgeneration geothermal environments.

Together, our team manages geothermal drilling projects end-to-end — from well site selection and targeting through design, permitting, contracting, drilling supervision, completion, and site restoration — covering the full range of well types from simple shallow temperature gradient holes to deep multi-legged completions, as well as workover programmes and remedial activities on legacy wells.

Through wireline and completion technologies, thorough planning, and a zero-tolerance approach to risk avoidance, we maximise production, reduce intervention costs, and extend well life. We deliver design and analysis services for well tests on both newly completed and legacy wells, providing optimised cased and open-hole completion solutions, and end-to-end well testing across all phases of the workflow, including but not limited to:

  • Well site selection and targeting
  • Drilling design, well programming, and permitting
  • Bidding, contract oversight, and procurement of drilling services
  • Geothermal drilling specification and documentation
  • Budgeting, drilling management, and on-site supervision
  • Resolution of drilling problems, including narrow-margin and lost-circulation environments
  • Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) capability building and equipment procurement
  • Completion design, site restoration, and workover programmes
  • Wireline equipment procurement and on-site logging supervision
  • Logging programme creation, execution, and log interpretation
  • Fishing supervision and specialist intervention services
  • Front-end engineering and design (FEED) for well testing programmes
  • Well test equipment procurement and wellbore simulation
  • Single, injection, flow, pump, build-up, multi-well interference, stimulation, and tracer test design and execution
  • Geochemical sampling, well clean-up, and capacity-building workshops
